Cities: Skylines II is a 2023 city-building simulation game developed by Colossal Order and published by Paradox Interactive. It serves as a sequel to the 2015 game Cities: Skylines, offering expanded simulation features, including larger city and population sizes, improved traffic AI, and enhanced management systems. The game was released for Windows on October 24, 2023, with planned releases for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S indefinitely delayed due to unresolved technical issues.
In gameplay, players start with a virtual plot of land to develop a city, managing aspects such as roads, zoning, utilities, and city services. Policies like tax rates and ordinances can be set to influence city growth. The game allows expansion from an initial nine tiles to up to 441 tiles, representing 171.33 km², significantly larger than its predecessor. Unlike the original game, which had a citizen limit of around 65,000, Cities: Skylines II’s population limit is determined by the player’s hardware capabilities.
